Bombay High Court Affirms Jurisdiction Over Reliance Entertainment Dispute

The dispute revolves around profit-sharing and distribution agreements connected to the Bollywood feature film 'Bholaa'.

The defendants had raised a preliminary objection regarding territorial jurisdiction, arguing the suit should be instituted elsewhere based on specific clauses in their backend contracts. However, analyzing the Code of Civil Procedure alongside the Commercial Courts Act, the Court observed that substantial elements of the cause of action—including contract execution and financial transfers—occurred within Mumbai's limits.
